Implementing TQM can be challenging, and there are several barriers that organizations may face. Some of these challenges and barriers include:

  • Resistance to change: TQM often requires significant changes to organizational culture and processes, which can be difficult for some employees to accept.
  • Lack of resources: Implementing TQM requires resources, including financial resources, training, and time. Organizations may face challenges in allocating these resources effectively.
  • Limited expertise: Implementing TQM requires expertise in quality management, statistical analysis, and process improvement. Organizations may face challenges in finding and retaining employees with the necessary expertise.
  • Lack of senior management commitment: TQM requires strong leadership commitment, and organizations may face challenges if senior management is not fully committed to the process.

Despite these challenges, many organizations have successfully implemented TQM and have seen significant benefits in terms of improved quality, reduced costs, and increased customer satisfaction.
