Introduction to TQM
About Lesson

Total Quality Management (TQM) has been evolving since its inception in the 1950s, and continues to develop in response to changing business environments and new technologies. Some of the emerging trends and developments in TQM include:

  • Digital transformation: The increasing use of digital technologies is changing the way that organizations approach TQM. Digital technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are being used to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Lean Six Sigma: Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that combines the principles of lean manufacturing with Six Sigma quality management. This approach emphasizes continuous improvement, waste reduction, and data-driven decision making.
  • Customer experience management: TQM has always focused on customer satisfaction, but there is an increasing emphasis on customer experience management. This approach involves understanding the end-to-end customer journey and identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience.
  • Agile methodologies: Agile methodologies are becoming more popular in TQM, particularly in software development. Agile approaches involve iterative development, continuous testing, and frequent feedback, and are well-suited to complex and rapidly changing environments.
