You may have heard the word “Toastmasters”, an international club where everyone are giving speeches….

What is done in Toastmasters?

It is simply a club where you can improve your public speaking skills and leadership skills.

But is it???

What is Toastmasters International (Club)?

It is an international worldwide network of clubs, where Toastmasters International is an educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills.
At the moment, they say that they have over 364,000 members in 16,200 clubs in 145 countries.
Toastmasters International was started in 1924.

What can you do/obtain by joining to a Toastmasters Club?

The main concern of 99% of people who want to speak but are not doing the same is the feeling of nervousness, anxiety, being afraid of what others would think or tell.

Good News!

At a Toastmasters club you wouldn’t have to think of all those crappy ideas.

Why?

Toastmasters is a super friendly meetup of people who are in the same boat as you are. There are only positive vibes and no one, NO ONE is looking for the errors you made or problems you face. What they will do is appreciate everything you do and propose improvement suggestions.

You can totally eliminate the feelings of nervousness, anxiety, being afraid, etc.

How to join/find a club?

Toastmasters International web site it self has a complete database of all the clubs available on this link.

You can go to the web page, search around your interested area (eg. Maharagama, sri Lanka) and look for the nearest TM club suited for you. Then you can contact the contact person of the club (TP number available on the web site) and get the details.

Generally each club has a designated meeting locations (however these days everything is via zoom/Teams/etc) and normally the meetings are held once in 2 weeks.

How much would it costs?

New membership fee is 20$ and as a member you have to pay 45$ once per six months.

What are the improvement paths?

In Toastmasters, you can improve many capabilities other than just public speaking.

There are 11 pathways (consider these as training programmes/courses/modules) which you can choose one pathway at first, and after completing that start another if you want.

Every pathway has bits of other pathways also. So, don’t worry if you want bit of “Presentations Mastery” while you want to follow “Dynamic Leadership”. You can learn both.
